Junior Auxiliary of Taney County (JATC) was honored with an "Apple from the Teacher" award on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at the Tri-Lakes Retired Teachers Association meeting.  This award is presented each fall to a business, individual, or organization in recognition of service to the community, especially in the area of education.

Cathy Brown, JATC President, gratefully accepted the award on behalf of the organization’s members.  She noted that JATC plans to continue its education-oriented projects: providing college scholarships to seniors graduating from the four Taney County high schools; collection and distribution of school and hygiene supplies to elementary schools; and developing and maintaining a website dedicated to information on preparing for college.

Past Apple from the Teacher award winners include Doyle Childers, Emory Melton, M. Graham Clark, Spike White, Jack Herschend, Peter Herschend, Leon Combs, the Presley family, Shoji and Dorothy Tabuchi, Peggy Miller and Ted Martin, a distinguished group who have done so much to benefit the children of this community.  JATC is proud to be included in this company.
