JATC holds membership drive
Those curious about the Junior Auxiliary of Taney County, or JATC, are invited to tea.
The JATC will host an informational membership tea Tuesday, July 23, at 5:30 p.m. at 200 Industrial Park Drive in Hollister. The event will provide information about the many projects and community service opportunities provided by the group.
JATC members participate in a variety of activities and programs to support the community.
The Christmas Assistance Program provided gifts to 101 children in Taney County during the 2024 drive. Members of the JATC provided children aged 6 months to 5 years of age with gift bags containing coats, gloves, and toys.
The group also partners with Branson Schools to offer an after-school program. Project Elevate Kids focuses on helping kids complete homework assignments, participate in group play, art and using good manners. JATC volunteers assist the teachers in the program. The school provides on teacher per ten students, and the help from JATC allows them to give students more personal attention.
The Joan Anderson Memorial Scholarship Program provides support and encouragement to a local student as they venture away from home to further their education. Applicants must meet criteria and application requirements.
The application for the ScholarCare program is located on the website as well. “Selection of a student is based on the applicants’ essay demonstrating their need for continuing support from JATC. In addition to a $1,000 scholarship, renewable annually based on satisfactory college achievement, JATC members send notes, small gifts, and emails throughout the year.” the organization’s website says.
Other JATC projects include Celebrate Reading, SteamPunk Academy, Tender Critters and the Kindness Effect.
Those who wish to attend the tea and learn more about the JATC, may call 417-294-2745 or email jatcmo@gmail.com to RSVP for the event.
