Scholarcare Students Comment on Their JATC Scholarship Awards

Now that school is out for the summer, we thought you might like to hear from some of our Scholarcare students!  These students receive renewable scholarship awards from us, but more importantly we encourage them with notes, gift cards, care packages, and other forms of support.

Here are just a few of the comments we received this year:

Note from Ashley Shockey, Branson High School:

My name is Ashley Shockey, and I was a recipient of the JATC Scholarcare award for the 2013-2014 school year. A year ago, I did not know about JATC, but today I am happy that I came to know them.  They gave me a scholarship, a reoccurring one, but that isn't the best part. Each month I receive a care package from one of the ladies with a note of encouragement. What makes this the best part is if I am having a bad day it puts a smile on my face and turns the whole day around. These ladies have truly made my college experience easier for me. I go to school 5 hours away from home (at Truman State University) and find myself missing home frequently, but with these gifts I feel a little closer. The ladies at JATC have become another set of mommies for me.

Note from Adrian Gibbs, former Scholarcare student, Forsyth High School:  (Adrian completed two years at OTC and received an Associate’s Degree.  She was unable to continue her school because of financial reasons, but still stays in touch with us.)

I'm back living in Arizona and since I moved here I've been working for an investment company in the finance division and also doing some executive coordinating work for the CEO. I was just hired on board to a wealth management company and will start my work there on April 6th, 2015.   I hope to remain with that company for the long term. They have a great team and it's a position in which I'd be constantly learning, which is a desire that's not currently being met. My new position is the group retirement account executive! I have a lot to learn, but I'm very excited and hopeful that this will be a fulfilling career for me.

Note from Lexie Rick, Scholarcare student, Hollister High School:  (Lexie has finished her four years of scholarcare awards from us and hopes to graduate with a nursing degree from Moberly Community College in May, 2016.)

It will be strange to not get cards from you all anymore. :( All of the gifts you have sent, especially all the gift cards, have been extremely helpful throughout the semester. They give me a great reason to get out of the apartment! I hope you all know how appreciative I am for everything you have done for me throughout the last four years. You all have been a wonderful blessing to me and I am so grateful to have received this scholarship. I will keep you updated on how nursing school is going.  I’ll have my first big girl job! How exciting. :)

How rewarding to hear their comments and know that we have helped students obtain their educational goals!
